Graduate Success Stories

Every UVI graduate has a unique story. Read some of the success stories from the graduating Class of 2023
Photo of Deanna Hunt
Deanna Hunt’s degree from the University of the Virgin Islands will prominently bear her name, but the Computer Science major is quick to acknowledge that there are many individuals without whose help and support she would not have been able to achieve her goals.

Self-described “Air Force brat” Carlos Eton who had lived in various places relocated to the U.S. Virgin Islands from New York City to pursue a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication, Art and Theatre from the University of the Virgin Islands.

During his time at UVI, Bell participated in the Virgin Islands Department of Labor’s Labor Investing for Tomorrow (LIFT) Summer Internship Program in the Communication Department at Government House and attended the renaming of the Golden Grove Correctional Facility to the John A. Bell Correctional Facility.
Photo of Joanne Simon-Walters

She was intrigued.

Monifa Potter didn’t have to look far for role models. They were in her home.

Having graduated from college themselves, Potter’s parents St. Clair and Felicia Potter always told their children that education is the passport to the future, and it is the one thing that no one can take from you.

Kaylor Bass
