Course Description:
This in-person interactive 4-day training course is being led by Advanced Certified Healthcare Simulation Educators (CHSE-A) from the University of South Florida's (USF) Center for Advanced Medical Learning and Simulation (CAMLS). Learn simulation facilitation techniques while you earn continuing education credits in your specific healthcare discipline.

Location: UVI Medical Simulation Center, Albert A. Sheen Campus - St. Croix
Suggested Audience: Educators, faculty, nurses, advanced practice providers, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, social workers, first responders (EMT, Paramedic), and physicians.
Course Objectives
- Understand the unique aspects of experiential learning and simulation training to how to incorporate it into existing course curriculum.
- Differentiate the various modalities of simulation and its applications based on learning objectives. Including, manikins, task trainers, advanced procedural trainers, hybrid simulation, simulated patients and VR/AR/XR.
- Develop structured simulation scenarios to meet the needs of learning objectives and outcomes.
- Apply various debriefing techniques for learners at different difficulty levels from beginner, to intermediate to advanced level students with difficult/challenging learners. Learn how to debrief the debriefer and give feedback through the use of tools such as the D.A.S.H. tool.
- Comply with all of the debriefing and evaluation standards set by the Society for Simulation in Healthcare (SSH) accreditation requirements.
- Understand basic pre-brief and facilitation techniques to create a positive learning environment. Including, pre-brief, the basic assumption, fiction contract, and setting up a psychologically safe learning environment; and
- Prepare to become CHSE certified through the Society for Simulation in Healthcare.
This activity has been approved for AMA PRA Category 1 Credit TM . USF Health is accredited as a provider of nursing continuing professional development by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation (ANCC).
