Urgent: UVI’s Albert A. Sheen Campus to Close Effective Immediately  Today
No direct threat to UVI; precautionary measures in effect

The University of the Virgin Islands (UVI) announces that the Albert A. Sheen Campus (AAS) on St. Croix will close all on-campus operations effective immediately today in response to threats made against some schools in the St. Croix District Public School System, as reported by the Virgin Islands Department of Education. While no direct threat has been made to UVI, this precautionary measure is being taken to safeguard our community.

Normal operations on the Sheen Campus will resume on Tuesday, August 26.

All in person courses scheduled for today, Monday, August 25, 2025, on the UVI AAS should be transitioned to virtual instruction to the extent possible.  We ask faculty and staff on AAS (except essential employees) to revert to remote work for the remainder of today. Employees on the Albert A. Sheen Campus who are unable to work virtually should contact their supervisors for guidance.

Student Affairs staff and UVI Security will be working together closely to ensure that additional safeguards are in place, including more frequent safety rounds and checks on the entire campus.

The Orville E. Kean Campus on St. Thomas will continue normal operations. Both campuses remain under heightened vigilance, with security teams actively monitoring the situation. UVI is working closely with law enforcement.

The safety of our students, faculty, and staff is our highest priority. We urge all members of the UVI community to remain alert and immediately report any suspicious activity. Stay tuned for updates via Bucs Alert, MyCampus, and the Emergency Response page on the UVI website.
