About
Founded in 1962, UVI is a public, co-ed, land-grant HBCU in the United States Virgin Islands.
Overview
University Development, which began in the early 1970s, allows UVI's many constituencies
to take an active role in building the future of the institution and the Territory.
Gifts to the University come in the form of cash, stocks and securities, gifts-in-kind,
personal property, and real estate as explained in our newly adopted, Gift Acceptance Policy. Securing much needed external funding is one of the major operational objectives
outlined in UVI's Strategic Plan, Pathways to Greatness, the University's ambitious guide for the future.
One of the major benefits of giving to UVI is knowing that you have made a conscious
decision to invest in the quality of education offered to UVI students. Contributions
ensure the availability of funds for student and faculty research, student aid, technology,
summer academies and training, scholarships, the performing arts and many other ongoing
and unforeseen needs of this institution.
Naming Policy
The purpose of the University of the Virgin Islands Naming Policy is to provide guidelines
for the naming of University properties in recognition of persons or entities making
substantial contributions to the cost or maintenance of University properties, and
commemorative plaques for gifts of lesser value that are associated with buildings
and other physical entities. Click to read the full policy.
Donating to UVI positively affects your tax situation by providing a charitable gift tax deduction.
