The University of the Virgin Islands (UVI) Lady Buccaneer basketball team fell to the Lady Panthers of Philander Smith University on Tuesday night, 92-34, at the Dr. Crawford J. Mims Gymnasium in Little Rock, Arkansas. UVI falls to 0-9 on the season and 0-5 in the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference play. 

 

Freshman guard Ashukamayah Phillips led the Lady Bucs on offense and defense with 15 points and three steals, respectively.  

 

Junior forward Sydney Taylor was aggressive on the boards as she recorded a season-high 11 rebounds for the Buccaneers. 

 

For the Lady Panthers, Isis Isom had 16 points to lead the way.  

 

The Lady Buccaneers return to action on Thursday, January 11 as they continue their road trip stopping in Holly Springs, Mississippi to take on Rust College in another GCAC conference game. This matchup can be viewed on Channel 120 of the HBCU+ app.
