     The University of the Virgin Islands (UVI) Department of Athletics announces its 2024 promotional basketball schedule. Unique honors, performances, and entertainment will be provided for every home game at the Elridge Blake Sports and Fitness Center to close out the 2024 season.

     Each special event night will feature UVI Buccaneers men’s and women’s basketball games.  

 

January 25, 2024 (6 p.m. & 8 p.m.) vs. Dillard University: Cultural Night

Enjoy the sights and sounds of a cultural-themed night at the Elridge Blake Sports and Fitness Center with performances by the St. Thomas Majorettes, Rising Stars Steel Orchestra, the Cultural Titans, and Lorna Freeman. A student and staff tailgate will precede the basketball games beginning at 4:30 pm in front of the Sports and Fitness Center. 

 

January 27, 2024 (4 & 6 p.m.) vs. SUNO: First Responders Appreciation Night 

All first responders are invited to the Sports and Fitness Center to be recognized for their hard work and dedication to the community on this night. Select individuals who are essential to the health and safety of the University’s campus will be honored. 

 

February 1, 2024 (6 p.m. & 8 p.m.) vs. Wiley College: Breast Cancer Awareness Night 

Pink out the Sports and Fitness Center! Wear pink in support of breast cancer awareness as we honor those who have fought the battle and shed light on a cause that is near and dear to our hearts. A select group of survivors will be honored.  

 

February 3, 2024 (4 p.m. & 6 p.m.) vs. Philander Smith University: High School Day 

All local high school students are invited to experience the college atmosphere at UVI. The UVI Office of Admissions will be on hand to share information with prospective students on what UVI has to offer. There will be performances by the Antilles Choir, Ivanna Eudora Kean cheerleaders, as well as the Charlotte Amalie cheerleaders and marching band. 

 

February 15, 2024 (6 p.m. & 8 p.m.) vs. Rust College: Alumni Night  

This is a celebration of UVI’s past and present as well as a look into the future. All alumni are invited to attend and show their Buccaneer Pride by wearing blue. At halftime, a special group of Buccaneer Alumni Athletes will be recognized and celebrated. 

 

February 17, 2024 (4 p.m. & 6 p.m.) vs. Tougaloo College: Senior night & Greek Night  

This night will be a celebration as we bid farewell to our seniors and celebrate their contributions to the University in the presence of their friends and family. We will also recognize all Divine Nine organizations on this night. Please come out in your Greek paraphernalia and represent your organization. 

 

Admission is free for all promotional nights.
