The University of the Virgin Islands (UVI) is preparing to welcome new and transfer students with orientation programs scheduled for Spring 2026 on both the Albert A. Sheen Campus on St. Croix and the Orville E. Kean Campus on St. Thomas.
Orientation activities are designed to support a smooth and successful transition into university life by introducing students to academic expectations, campus resources, student support services, and opportunities to connect with faculty, staff, Orientation Leaders, and fellow students.
The University of the Virgin Islands will host New Student Orientation beginning Friday, Jan. 9, 2026, on both campuses. In addition to informative sessions, orientation will feature engaging and interactive experiences designed to help students build community and feel at home at UVI. Planned activities include welcoming social gatherings, campus tours, and opportunities to connect with peers in relaxed settings. A highlight of the orientation experience on both campuses is the Buccaneer Medallion Ceremony, a meaningful tradition that formally welcomes new students into the UVI community and symbolizes their commitment to academic excellence and Buccaneer pride.
“Orientation marks the beginning of a transformative journey for our new and transfer students,” said Dr. Pamela Moolenaar-Wirsiy, Vice President of Student Success and Innovation at the University of the Virgin Islands. “These sessions are designed to equip students with the tools, knowledge, and connections they need to thrive academically and personally, while fostering a strong sense of belonging within the UVI community.”
All incoming students are strongly encouraged to participate in orientation, as it plays a critical role in student engagement, persistence, and overall success.
