The College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences (CLASS), through its Communication and Performing Arts Department at the University of the Virgin Islands (UVI), invites the community to attend its third annual Student Art Exhibition, a vibrant showcase of student creativity and artistic expression.

The exhibition will be held on Tuesday, April 28, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. in Room EVC 208 on the Albert A. Sheen Campus on St. Croix.

“This annual exhibition highlights the remarkable creativity and talent of our students across both campuses, bringing together a dynamic collection of drawings, paintings, and digital works,” said Dr. Kula Francis, interim dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences. “It reflects the strength of our visual arts curriculum and our commitment to providing students with meaningful opportunities to express their ideas and engage the community through art.”

These courses are led by dedicated faculty members Danica M. David, Shira Sofer, and Susan Edwards, whose instruction continues to inspire and cultivate artistic growth among students.

“This exhibition is a celebration of our students’ voices and perspectives, expressed through visual storytelling,” said David, UVI Art Faculty. “It provides a platform for them to share their creativity with the community while building confidence in their artistic practice. We are proud to showcase the depth of talent emerging from our classrooms.”

New this year, attendees will have the opportunity to participate in a People’s Choice Competition, casting votes for their favorite artwork on display.

The exhibition’s promotional poster features selected works by Painting I students Samantha Subratee and E’Leeya Richard, along with Caribbean Art I student Cole Chinske, offering a preview of the creativity that will be on display.

UVI offers a range of art courses and a minor in Fine Arts, fostering an environment where students are encouraged to explore their artistic potential. Beyond creative expression, art education at UVI enhances critical thinking and complements a wide range of academic disciplines, supporting students in their broader academic and professional pursuits.
