The University of the Virgin Islands, through The Caribbean Writer Press, in partnership with The Caribbean Writer and the VI Literary Festival and Book Fair, will host two encore presentations of Bomba: The Story of a Virgin Islands Hero, the compelling new biography by Virgin Islands author and cultural storyteller Myron Allick.

Since its initial release in late May, Bomba: The Story of a Virgin Islands Hero has received a warm reception from readers, historians, educators, and members of the Virgin Islands community, earning praise for its contribution to preserving the territory’s cultural and maritime heritage.

Written by the youngest son of legendary Virgin Islands mariner Wilfred “Bomba” Allick Sr., the book is both a deeply personal tribute and an important historical work. It chronicles the remarkable life of one of the territory’s most respected maritime figures while documenting an important chapter of Virgin Islands and Caribbean history.

Through meticulous research, oral history, and family archives, Myron Allick preserves the legacy of his father and the stories, traditions, and values of a maritime community for future generations.

“My hope is that this book not only honors my father’s extraordinary life but also preserves the stories, values, and maritime traditions that helped shape the Virgin Islands,” said author Myron Allick. “These are stories that deserve to be remembered and shared with future generations.”

The St. Thomas encore presentations will feature an author reading, book signing, and light refreshments.
