Dear Members of the UVI Community,
At the University of the Virgin Islands, integrity, accountability, and responsible stewardship guide how we serve our students, our community, and the public trust. Together with the Board of Trustees, we are committed to maintaining the highest standards of ethical conduct and ensuring that all institutional, federal, and territorial resources are used appropriately.
Creating a culture where concerns can be raised openly and in good faith is essential to strengthening our institution. Members of the UVI community — including faculty, staff, administrators, students, and external partners — should feel confident that they can report concerns without fear of retaliation.
To support this commitment, the University has established an Ethics and Compliance Hotline within the Office of Internal Audit. The Hotline provides a confidential option for reporting suspected fraud, waste, abuse, or other improper activities across areas such as finance, human resources, information technology, research, safety, and academic or campus affairs.
While individuals are encouraged to share concerns with their supervisor or component head when appropriate, the Hotline serves as an alternative reporting channel. Reports may be made anonymously, and confidentiality will be maintained to the extent permitted by law.
You may contact the Hotline by:
Every report received is documented, reviewed, and assessed through a structured process to determine appropriate next steps.
Strengthening ethical accountability is also central to advancing the University’s Grand Momentum Strategic Plan, which calls for operational excellence, sound financial stewardship, and a culture of continuous improvement. By ensuring that concerns can be raised and addressed responsibly, we reinforce the systems and trust necessary to move forward together as One UVI.
By speaking up when something does not seem right, you help protect our shared mission and strengthen the culture of accountability that defines our institution.
I encourage you to review the Frequently Asked Questions provided by the Office of Internal Audit to learn more about how the Hotline operates.
With Care,
Dr. Safiya George
President, University of the Virgin Islands
