In preparation for the approach of Tropical Storm Laura, the University of the Virgin Islands will close both of its campuses at 4:30 p.m. today, Friday, Aug. 21, 2020. Tropical Storm Laura is projected to pass between St. Thomas and St. Croix in the early hours on Saturday morning.
The University of the Virgin Islands (UVI) joins the Virgin Islands community in mourning the death of baseball legend Horace Clarke, who died last Wednesday at the age of 82. Born in St. Croix, Clarke rose to national prominence as a professional baseball player with the New York Yankees and the San Diego Padres.
