The University of the Virgin Islands’ Etelman Observatory has joined an international collaboration of telescopes across the globe focused on studying and understanding the elusive explosions in space that lead to the emission of powerful bursts of gravitational waves.

The University of the Virgin Islands joins the Virgin Islands community in mourning the death of Ron De Lugo, who led the Territory as a career public servant for almost four decades.

The Virgin Islands Established Program to Stimulate Competitive Research (VI-EPSCoR) has been awarded funding for its fourth National Science Foundation (NSF) EPSCoR grant titled “Ridge to Reef”. The Ridge to Reef (R2F) project is a five-year, $20 million grant dedicated to addressing the impacts of changing environmental conditions on small island social-ecological systems such as those in the U.S. Virgin Islands.

The University of the Virgin Islands (UVI) mourns the death of Dr. Ruth Harrigan-Beagles, a retired associate professor of Education and chair of the Education Division at the University of the Virgin Islands. She passed away on July 6.

University of the Virgin Islands (UVI) President Dr. David Hall addressed the UVI community on Tuesday, June 30, during a virtual town hall meeting to discuss the University’s fall 2020 semester plans and operations, in light of the continued challenges posed by COVID-19. Dr. Hall outlined plans to gradually resume in-person instruction this fall with restrictions and preventative measures to ensure the safety of students, employees and the public.
