Public Viewing Scheduled at UVI’s Etelman Observatory Friday, March 20

The University of the Virgin Islands College of Science and Mathematics and the Etelman Observatory will be hosting its next public observing session using the Virgin Islands Robotic Telescope from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday, March 20. The public will be treated to views of Venus, Jupiter, Orion, and the Pleiades among other sights. The evening will also feature a video presentation and lecture discussing some of the amazing insights into the universe that the study of astrophysics has produced.

"We are pleased to invite the St. Thomas public to join us and enjoy the night sky, views of our galaxy, and a discussion of interesting and exciting topics in the world of astrophysics and space science," said Etelman Observatory Director Dr. David Morris.

This event is presented free of charge to the St. Thomas community. Space is limited. Shuttle service will be provided from the Sibilly School parking lot (near Sibs). Attendees should be at the shuttle stop about 20-30 minutes before their scheduled session start time. Please RSVP by e-mail to dmorris@uvi.edu or call (617) 510-1658.
