The VIDOH-Virgin Islands Developmental Disabilities Council (VIDDC) in collaboration with the UVI-CLASS-Virgin Islands Caribbean Cultural Center (VICCC) are hosting the 2nd Annual Empowered Parents=Successful Children Conference for Parents’ Advocacy on Thursday, September 3, 2015, at UVI’s Administration Conference Center (ACC) on St. Thomas and on Friday, September 4th, 2015, at UVI’s Great Hall- Albert A. Sheen Campus on St. Croix. Conference activities will be held on both days from 8am to 4pm. Workshops and presentations will feature an exclusive first-time screening of the film “Including Samuel”; Hands-on sessions on “Mental Health & Our Children”; “Active Steps for Disability Rights”; “Steps to Know for IEPs & Behavioral Plans”; “Updates on ADA Compliance Issues”; and “Important Facts on Child Nutrition & Education.” The keynote presenter is Ms. Bonnie Jean Smith of The Pacer Center nationally-recognized as “Champions for Children with Disabilities.”

Admission is free. Light Caribbean breakfast and lunch will be provided for pre-registered participants.
