UVI Welcomes Applicants for Priority Admission - “Free Tuition” & Institutional Scholarships Deadline - April 1st

The University of the Virgin Islands announced that the priority deadline to apply for UVI and for the "Free Tuition” Higher Education Scholarship Program (VIHESP) is April 1st. In order to be eligible for the “Free Tuition” Scholarship Program residents: must be a graduate of a public, private, or parochial school in the Virgin Islands, without regard to age, date of graduation or household income; must be a full-time student pursuing a first undergraduate degree; and earn a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of a 2.5 or higher upon graduation from high school. Residents who were unable to maintain a 2.5 GPA in high school will have the opportunity to earn it while enrolled at the University and become eligible.  

“We know that an investment in one’s education creates opportunities for life,” said David Wuineeassociate provost for Enrollment Management. “The support our students can tap into through various scholarship programs and financial aid programs makes UVI that much more affordable.” To apply to UVI, visit  To apply for the free tuition scholarship program residents must; complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for the 2021-22 academic year; and submit an enrollment confirmation form and deposit by May 1, 2021.  Continuing students who were previously awarded the free tuition scholarship and wish to continue receiving funding must: complete an application for consideration by visiting the following link UVI Free Tuition by priority deadline April 1, 2021; complete a FAFSA application; and confirm your enrollment intention by May 1, 2021. 

In addition to the free tuition program, students will also have the opportunity to apply for UVI Institutional Scholarships by April 1, 2021. The institutional scholarships are open to high school graduates, undergraduate and graduate students pursuing their first bachelor’s or master’s degree. Scholarship eligibility will be based on completion of the scholarship application, academic transcripts, grade point average (GPA), and a letter of recommendation.
