Cayuse is an innovative web-based software platform that streamlines the process of preparing and submitting proposals and compliance applications. With its user-friendly interface and efficient features, Cayuse simplifies the complexities of research administration, making it easier than ever to navigate the submission process. Cayuse provides a secure, cloud-based environment where all pertinent research information can be stored and accessed from virtually anywhere
Accessing Cayuse
Cayuse is a single sign-on system that is accessed through MyCampus. To access Cayuse, new employees, students, and external faculty must complete the Cayuse New User Registration Request Form. The registration process usually takes 1-2 days to complete.

UVI currently subscribes to five (5) Cayuse modules.
Human Ethics - Live and available for use
The Cayuse Institutional Review Board, commonly referred to as Cayuse Human Ethics, operates as a comprehensive online platform designed to streamline the management of human subject research applications. This innovative system allows researchers to electronically prepare, submit, and facilitate the routing of their research studies in pursuit of Institutional Review Board (IRB) approval.
Animal Oversight - Live and available for use
Cayuse Animal Oversight is used to manage the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) protocol process, including drafting, review, approval, and renewal.
Sponsored Projects (SP) – Live June 01, 2026
Cayuse Sponsored Projects (SP) replaces the paper routing system used by OSP. SP allows customized routing chains that streamline proposal workflows through approval stages. It monitors critical events and deadlines, ensuring the process stays on track while providing easy access to key documents, including proposals, attachments, and budget information. Users are guided through compliance and administrative requirements via targeted questions about sponsors, subcontractors, and regulatory policies, making proposal development efficient and accurate.
Fund Finder (Grant Forward) – Live and available for use
Grant Forward is a specialized search engine and funding database designed to help researchers and institutions find grant opportunities to fund their research and projects. Grant Forward uses AI-driven features designed to help you discover funding opportunities more efficiently, with smarter tools that save you time and surface the most relevant results.
Fund Manager – In process
Cayuse Fund Manager is a cloud-based financial management tool that provides real-time visibility and control over sponsored research funds. This module integrates with Banner to track past, present, and future spending of sponsored awards. While Cayuse Fund Manager works alongside Banner, it does not replace the post-award activities managed within Banner. Key features include budget oversight for multi-year projects, financial reports, expense projections, detailed transaction tracking, and compliance management.
