Members of the University community are invited to attend a presentation on chikungunya by the V.I. Territorial Epidemiologist Dr. Esther Ellis at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 2. The presentation will take place in Evans Center Room 401 on the Albert A. Sheen Campus, with a videoconference link to Room B-110 on the St. Thomas Campus.

There has been an increase in the number of chikungunya cases in the territory since it was first reported in May of this year. According to the World Health Organization, chikungunya is a viral disease transmitted to humans by infected mosquitoes. It causes rashes, fever and severe joint pain.
