Dear UVI Employees:

I want to thank htose of you who participated in the survey I distributed last week in regards to our existing employee vaccination policy. At the Board of Trustees meeting on Saturday October 22, 2022, in Executive Session, the Board voted unanimously to eliminate the vaccination requirement for employees, as it did previously for students. This decision was based on the significant change in conditions in the Territory and nationally in regards to COVID-19, and the change in guidelines from the Department of Health (DOH) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Though we welcome this change, we also encourage all of our employees to be vaccinated and boosted. This remains the most scientifically effective way to combat this disease.

I recognize, based on the survey results, that some employees preferred that hte requirement remain in place. However, the Boared based its decision on what it feels is in the best interest of the University at this time.

I have provided below a link to the results from the survey so you can appreciate that there are various views on this very difficult and sensitive issue, I shared the results with the Board on Saturday and they appreciate receiving the input from our employees.
