The University of the Virgin Islands (UVI) joins the Virgin Islands community in mourning the passing of Dr. Alexander Moorhead, former VI senator, business leader and UVI Board Chair Emeritus.

Cooks, volunteers, supporters, and fun seekers, numbered in the thousands, turned out at the University of the Virgin Islands’ (UVI) Afternoon on the Green fundraiser on Sunday, March 19, 2023, on St. Thomas to raise money for college scholarships. The 31st annual event drew crowds of people who partied with a purpose, danced to live music, played interactive games in the Kid Zone, explored UVI programs, and sampled a variety of dishes donated by local cooks and chefs.

In celebration of its annual Charter Day, the University of the Virgin Islands (UVI) is pleased to announce a series of activities in commemoration of the 61st anniversary of its charter. Events kick off on Friday, March 17, 2023, with a Charter Day Walk/Run on the Albert A. Sheen Campus on St. Croix and conclude with a Charter Day ceremony on Friday, March 24, 2023, featuring VI Senate President Novelle E. Francis, Jr. as the keynote speaker.

The University of the Virgin Islands’ (UVI) annual “friendraiser” event, Afternoon on the Green, is back in person on Sunday, March 19, from noon to 5 p.m. at the Herman E. Moore Golf Course on St. Thomas. Live entertainment and an array of activities promise something for everyone at this year’s event themed “A Burst of Culture, Fun & Cuisine at Afternoon on the Green 2023”.

The Virgin Islands Small Business Development Center (VI SBDC) is overjoyed that the Honorable Governor Albert Bryan Jr. has proclaimed Wednesday, March 15, 2023, as ‘VI SBDC Day’ in the U.S. Virgin Islands.

The University of the Virgin Islands (UVI) is pleased to announce that it has received a generous $20,000 donation from Tropical Shipping to support its Youth Ocean Explorers (YOE) program.

In the regular session of its quarterly meeting on Saturday, March 4, 2023, via Zoom, the University of the Virgin Islands (UVI) Board of Trustees voted unanimously to increase its tuition, board, graduation and Wellness Center fees, many of which have not been adjusted for more than a decade. The measures were taken in response to rising operating costs and to address the financial needs of the University.

The University of the Virgin Islands (UVI) School of Agriculture’s Cooperative Extension Service (CES) invites interested persons to a free fruit tree grafting workshop from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 9.

Members of the media are invited to cover and photograph the University of the Virgin Islands President Dean’s List and Reception on the Orville E. Kean Campus on St. Thomas on Sunday, March 5. It will be held in the Elridge W. Blake Sports and Fitness Center.

Two students in the University of the Virgin Islands’ (UVI) Hospitality and Tourism Management program were awarded scholarships from Wyndham Destinations, the parent company of Margaritaville Vacation Club St. Thomas, during an award ceremony held earlier this month.
