Biography
Dr. Maddirala earned his PhD and MS in Educational Policy and Management from the University of Oregon, and MA in Political Science and Public Administration. He is currently serving as the Vice Provost for Academic Affairs, Global Engagement, Graduate Studies, and Professor at the University of the Virgin Islands, contributed designing and establishing PhD in Creative Leadership for Innovation and Change, several new graduate programs in Business and Education, and initiated UVI in China and India. He feels strongly that UVI will be a different institution in a couple of years as the best in the Caribbean and known in half of the global-world.
Dr. Maddirala rendered his services at Jackson State University as their Associate Provost and Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs and Student Life for eleven years: in charge of Academic Affairs and Student Life Budget and Finance, Global Academic Diversity as Chief University Diversity Officer, in-Charge of International Programs engaging with the global-world, founding Associate Professor, Executive Ph.D. in Higher Education - designed the accelerated doctoral program along with the Provost, PhD dissertation chair for several PhD students, Executive Director of Global World HIV/AIDS Alliance (GHAA) - a consortium of 25 nations. He is passionate about Global-World Initiatives - Creating value and engaging the world, and worked with the following initiatives at Jackson State over 10 years: Africa Initiatives: South Africa, Angola, Zambia, Cameroon, Ethiopia, Mozambique, Asia Initiatives – China, Taiwan, India, Iran, Thailand, South Korea, South American Initiatives: Brazil, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Trinidad and Tobago. Established Diversity Sites: Choctaw Teaching Site.
Dr. Maddirala is the founder and designer of the Global-World HIV/AIDS Alliance (GHAA). He had had several conversations with Dignitaries: Hermano Telles Riberio, Brazilian Consulate General in Atlanta; Tae Sik Lee, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea, Washington, DC ; Armando Alexander Panguene, Ambassador of the Republic of Mozambique, Washington, DC,: His Majesty, King Goodwill Zwelithni, King of Zululand : 3) Jacob Zuma, the African National Congress President (President of South Africa); Manto Tshabalala-Misimang, South Africa's Minister of Health; Dr. Nomonde Xundu, Director of HIV and AIDS, National Department of Health, South Africa; 6) Bennie Thompson, Mississippi US Congressman; Honorable Dr. Y. S. Rajasekhar Reddy, Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, India; Honorable Chandra Babu Naidu, Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, India; Dr. Helene Gayle, CEO Care International; Honorable Abid Hussain, Indian Ambassador to the United States. He had several lifetime Achievement Awards: Member of the International Committee of the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP), Sward of Honor from India, Mahatma Gandhi Global Achiever Award, Hind Rattan Award; Distinguished Educator Award; Mississippi Institution of Higher Learning Diversity Award; March 1, 2001, the Mayor of Maury County, Tennessee declared as Maddirala Day; Facilitator of the Year Award" from among 18,000 facilitators in 38 countries in 2000, Franklin Covey internationally recognized organization in 2000.
