The University of the Virgin Islands’ (UVI) Reichhold Center for the Arts (RCA) Sessions on the Floor is back for a bold new season, continuing its mission to spotlight local talent in ways that challenge, inspire, and entertain. The season kicks off Saturday, Oct. 11, at the Elridge W. Blake Sports and Fitness Center with the beloved songstress of the Virgin Islands, Lorna Freeman, accompanied by the Superior Court Rising Stars Youth Steel Orchestra and other special guests.

On Sunday, Oct. 19, World Food Day will be observed from noon to 6 p.m. on the grounds of the University of the Virgin Islands’ (UVI) Albert A. Sheen Campus on St. Croix. The day will kick off with a formal opening ceremony and continue with educational workshops, a food vendor’s court, a farmers' market, a Super Chef demonstration, and distribution of free vegetable seedlings.

The University of the Virgin Islands mourns the passing of UVI student Phi-Jah E. Merchant, 22, who tragically lost his life in a single-car collision early Saturday, Aug. 23, 2025, on the Melvin H. Evans Highway near the William D. Roebuck Industrial Park.

The University of the Virgin Islands (UVI), in partnership with the GRROE USVI Mangroves team, hosted its first “Mangroves in the Classroom” (MIC) Educator Workshop on St. Croix on July 28. Held at UVI’s Albert A. Sheen Campus Great Hall, the full-day workshop introduced educators to MIC’s interactive, science-based curriculum and focused on adapting lessons for middle school learners and bringing the MIC program to St. Croix.
