The loss brings the team to 1-17 on the season and 1-13 in the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference.

Dr. George will assume her role as UVI’s new president in August 2024.

Graduate guard Brea Patterson’s 21 points lifted the University of the Virgin Islands (UVI) women’s basketball team to its first victory in a 54-47 win over the Lady Wildcats of Wiley University on Thursday evening at the Elridge Blake Sports and Fitness Center. Patterson’s 21 points led all scorers. UVI (1-13, 1-9) got off to a slow start and fell 12-2 after the opening tip. Despite the slow start, the Lady Bucs were prepared for the challenge as they would score 10 unanswered points to even things up. The Lady Wildcats pulled slightly ahead of the Lady Bucs, but UVI would battle its way back into the game knotting things up at 18 all.
