The University of the Virgin Islands will host the 2015 Paradise Jam beginning Friday, Nov. 20, in the Sports and Fitness Center on the St. Thomas Campus.

By using captivating images of creatures and fauna of the Virgin Islands’ oceans, Jarvon Stout – VI Marine Advisory Service (VIMAS) assistant – has found a way to utilize art to teach marine biology at the Addelita Cancryn Junior high school (ACJHS).

Members of the media are invited to cover and photograph the University of the Virgin Islands 12th Annual “Voices That Count” conference on Dec. 14 and 15, in the Administration and Conference Center on the St. Thomas Campus and in the Great Hall on the Albert A. Sheen Campus on St. Croix, respectively.

The University of the Virgin Islands, a member of the National Nuclear Security Administration’s (NNSA) Minority Serving Institutions, hosted consortiums representing 22 Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) and five national labs, at the institution’s annual technical meeting this November.

The 12th annual “Voices that Count” conference will be held on Dec. 14 and 15, in the Administration and Conference Center on the St. Thomas Campus and in the Great Hall on the Albert A. Sheen Campus on St. Croix. The conference will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. each day.

“The Caribbean Writer,” an international, literary anthology published annually by the University of the Virgin Islands is soliciting colorful, eye-catching, Caribbean artwork for the cover of “First the Kata, then the Bundle,” a collection of Virgin Islands writings from Volumes 16 to 30 of “The Caribbean Writer”.

A special meeting of the University of the Virgin Islands Board of Trustees will be held at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 8, in room 303 of the Administration and Conference Center on St. Thomas Campus and via teleconference.

Members of the community can establish a permanent presence on the campus of the University of the Virgin Islands through the new “Buy A Brick” fundraising campaign.

Members of the media are invited to cover and photograph the University of the Virgin Islands’ Research and Technology Park (RTPark) Client Appreciation Reception on Wednesday, Nov. 18, at the UVI President’s Guest House on the St. Thomas campus from 5 p.m. - 7 p.m.

The Annual St. Thomas/St. John Agriculture and Food Fair featuring new “Art by the Sea” youth attractions will be held on Nov. 21 and 22, 2015 on the grounds of the Reichhold Center for the Arts.
