University of the Virgin Islands nursing alumni, faculty and friends are invited to celebrate 50 years of Nursing Education in 2015.

The Caribbean Writer – the University of the Virgin Islands’ international, refereed, literary journal with a Caribbean focus – is announcing a submission call for its 29th edition.

Dr. Camille A. McKayle has been appointed Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs at the University of the Virgin Islands. In making the announcement, UVI President Dr. David Hall said Dr. McKayle, who served in the same role in an interim capacity for the last two years, “has made an important and meaningful contribution to the progress of the University, especially in the academic area.”

The University of the Virgin Islands celebrated the 40th Annual Academic Awards by honoring top students for the 2013-2014 academic year at awards ceremonies held in April on the Albert A. Sheen Campus on St. Croix and on the St. Thomas Campus.

This year the University of the Virgin Islands is conducting a variety of summer programs that include youth camps, college preparatory programs, undergraduate opportunities, graduate opportunities and teacher training programs.

UVI’s Director of Libraries, Judith V. Rogers, has been named the Caribbean Information Professional of the Year 2014 by the Association of Caribbean University, Research and Institutional Libraries (ACURIL).

Members of the media are invited to cover and photograph the presentation of a four-year Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) scholarship to Cadet Capt. Morgan Cleaveland to attend the University of the Virgin Islands at 10:30 a.m. on June 10, at the Ivanna Eudora Kean High School (I.E.K.H.S.).

International student interns from insular land grant colleges and universities around the world are conducting research at the University of the Virgin Islands’ Agricultural Experiment Station (AES) research program from June 1-20, on the Albert A. Sheen Campus on St. Croix. Eight students from the University of Puerto Rico, the University of Guam, American Samoa Community College, the College of the Marshall Islands and the College of the Federated States of Micronesia are participating in the program.

The University of the Virgin Islands and its alumni have joined forces to increase new student enrollment with the launch of the Dedicated Alumni Recruitment Team (DART) program.
